Career Development

I-Shou University has started a new teaching mode, so-called New Sandwich Teaching, since 2008, and will arrange for students to undertake their practical training off-campus for six months. The industries will arrange for students to work from the mud up. Students should be able to understand the real operational procedure after their fundamental courses. The fore part of practical training will focus on the basic level training while the latter part of training will emphasize the managerial training. Some of industries might agree that students can transfer to other departments after three-month practical training. Off-campus focuses on the integration between both theories and practicum, therefore, students will be expected to understand the coming management courses. Off-campus practicum training will cooperate with many famous hospitality industries with a six-month practical training, allowing students to experience the real operational procedure in the hospitality and discover their future interests. Furthermore, such arrangement emphasizing the integration between theories and practicum will increase students’ competitiveness as well. Such cooperation with industries will create a win-win situation and achieve the objective of real cooperation. I-Shou University emphasizes pre-training with the concept of “learning by doing, doing by learning.” In the future, our program will also provide students with an oversea cooperation with international industries to enhance students’ foreign language abilities and broaden their international vision. In the second year of our program, we will provide on-campus practicum using the professional labs and facilities of “hospitality operational center,” allowing students to plan different themes of hospitality service through theme selection, team working, job assignment, contents design, pricing, decorating, cost controlling, marketing, financial management, and service. All of these learning activities will be undertaken by students for their future off-campus practicum. In the fourth year, our program will establish industry practicum, allowing our students to obtain pre-managerial training in the E-Da Royal Hotel at Kaohsiung E-DA World.

Graduates of our program can apply either domestic and international hospitality related graduate schools, such as graduate school of hospitality management, graduate school of tourism, graduate school of leisure, graduate school of applied science, graduate school of business management, graduate school of operating management, or graduate school of human resources.
